Copyright

Copyright is the exclusive and assignable legal right, given to the originator for a fixed number of years, to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material. e.g. Nintendo copyright their games and music.

Pros

Prevents people from copying the work
People need to ask for permission to use or copy their work into their own content.

Cons

Runs on a contract, and, if not renewed, will run out, allowing others to copy your work without your permission.

PRS

Stands for Performing Right Society
Represents Members' performing rights, whenever a piece of music is performed or played in any public space or place outside of the home.

MCPS

Stands for Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society
Represents members’ mechanical rights, whenever a piece of music is reproduced as a physical product.
